Chackman, Louis, 95, of Margate passed away on April 30th survived by his loving family. Born in Romania, he is pre-deceased by his parents, Harry and Lena (Gorodetzky) and his brother, Leonard. Louis is survived by his artist wife of 57 years, Marilyn, sons. Gary and Sylvan, four grandchildren, and sister, Belle Kause. Louis was an Olney High School graduate in Philadelphia and served four years in the second World War on Guadalcanal. In 1948, he and his parents operated Chackman’s Food Center in Ventnor and also worked at the Playboy Club, Wagenheim Meats, and Previti Brothers. Louis was a past commander of Garr-Greenstein Post of the Jewish War Veterans. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and deep-sea fishing off Acapulco. Graveside services will be held Thursday 11am at the Beth Kehillah Cemetery, 6687 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Twp.
