Obituary for Randi Hertz Suriano
Randi Hertz Suriano, 64, passed away at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
Randi was born in Atlantic City, NJ on October 29, 1955. She attended Atlantic City High School, graduating in 1974, and then attended Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick, earning a BA degree in Communication.
Randi worked for 30 years at Willis Towers Watson. She mainly served as marketing support across multiple lines of business and did so with great pride and a "can do" attitude. Her coworkers would routinely stop by her desk for help or just to say hi.
Starting in the mid 1980's, Randi became very involved in the size acceptance movement and became an advocate for people facing fat discrimination. She led many workshops at NAAFA conventions, and enjoyed the social aspect of NAAFA and similar organizations - dances, pool parties, movie nights, hayrides, get togethers, etc. She became a mentor to many people.
Gregarious and outgoing, Randi's thoughtfulness, intelligence, wit, humor and kindness led her to have many friends. Time spent with Randi was never boring. She touched many people and they all have their own special story of time spent with her. She was a giving person and took extra time to make people feel special.
Randi grew up in Margate, NJ, near the ocean, and that love of the ocean never left her. Her favorite place to vacation was in Maine -- she loved the rocky coast and she loved LOBSTER. For many years, she enjoyed spring and fall trips to MA and ME with her friend, Linda.
Randi loved to try new foods and was actively involved with the Trader Joe group on Facebook. She liked to try out new restaurants. She took amazing photographs, liked to read, hang out with friends, and watch movies. Her favorite TV show was Schitt's Creek, which she described as a treasure and an absolute gift to the world. She was creative, a good writer and enjoyed various crafts.
What most people want out of their life is to make a difference. Randi succeeded because she certainly made a difference in many people’s lives.
Randi will be greatly missed by, her sister Marcy ,nephews Benjy (Inna) and Danny, niece Miriam(David), great nephews, cousins, and her many, many friends.
