Obituary for John Thomas DellaVecchia

John Thomas DellaVecchia, of Mays Landing, N.J. went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2021.
John was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, he is preceded in death by his parents,
Samuel J and Adele DellaVecchia, brother Thomas DellaVecchia, his infant granddaughter
Bethany Michele Cummings, and his niece Michele Barrett.
John graduated from West Catholic High School post-graduation, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Cherry Point, N.C. where he completed his service honorably as a Corporal.
He was later employed by the Halliburton company before settling in New Jersey, where he was employed by Wheaton Plastic Industry until he retired in 1995.
After retirement John went on to work as the business manager at Pleasantville Charter School for Academic Excellence from 1998 until 2006.
John continued his tax practice part time and weekends from 1963 till 2021, he enjoyed his practice and was grateful for his clients, many who had become friends.
John was an active member of the community, a member of the Atlantic County Mounties, a non- profit organization committed to raising funds for equine education and grants, served as treasurer for the Mays Landing Merchants association, and just prior to his illness was appointed treasurer of The Equine Therapy Association, a nonprofit committed to the well-being of Veterans.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His love for the Lord, his family and his country were obvious to all that knew him. He was compassionate and kind, known for his strength and humility, he was always optimistic, a comfort to others and helped anyone in need of a hand up, he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, in forgiveness and second chances, he was a “stand up for the underdog” kind of guy. He had a special love for horses, He enjoyed the outdoors, football and the beach, but nothing brought him more joy than being with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife Brenda (Ricciardi) DellaVecchia and her son Ryan Ricciardi; and 5 children,
John DellaVecchia (Kelly), Tania DellaVecchia, Jeanne DellaVecchia, Renee Cummings (Tim) and Michael DellaVecchia, (Sherene). His Siblings, Marie Crupi, (Frank) Edward DellaVecchia (Terry), Samuel DellaVecchia (Roxie), 16 amazing grandchildren, many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Christian Service will be held at Estell Manor Veterans Cemetery, October 30, at 10:00 am,
