It is with great sadness that Jeanne Gest passed away on November 11, 2019, at the age of 94. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Bernie to whom she was married for 73 years. She was very devoted to her children, Michael, Howard, Steven, Eileen, and Robert, her grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, Margaret, Juliette, David, Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Jason, and great grandchildren, Hannah and Katie. She is survived by her sister, Lois Fox and immediate family.

She graduated from Temple University and University of Pennsylvania. Jeanne was a dedicated social worker for the City of Philadelphia, Child Welfare department. Because of her concern for all of her clients, she supervised the most difficult cases. She acted as the guardian for her caseload and made sure the children had adequate clothes and school supplies.

Jeanne was the president of many organizations including Golda Meir Hadassah. She was devoted to many Jewish causes and the State of Israel. She lived fully to the last day of her life at the celebration of her grandson’s wedding. She loved the shore and having her family come to visit. She will be greatly missed by the people and organizations with which she interacted during her lifetime. Charitable contributions can be made to Golda Meir Hadassah of Margate, NJ.

To our dearest grandmother who taught us the value of unconditional love. Who taught us the importance of generosity, humility and simplicity over grandiosity, self congratulations and self importance. Who's kindness and caring will always be remembered. Who's strength, wisdom, life experience, and guidance will propel us to carry on and be the light in the darkness and to be a voice for those in need.
With love, remembrance, and light...she will forever live on in our hearts.

Aunt Jeanne has always been an integral part of our family. So many of my memories include celebrating holidays, family get togethers or just hanging out with her. She always wanted to know what was happening with us and loved spending time together. Family was everything to her and it extended way beyond just the immediate group. She welcomed our friends too with open arms. I always told Aunt Jeanne that she was our role model. It was hard to believe she was 95 with such a sharp mind and easy smile. She was admired for her generosity and how she gave so much of herself to Jewish causes. She had a strong passion for life and truly lived each day to the fullest. Aunt Jeanne will forever live in our hearts and just looking at her pictures puts a smile on my face. We loved her so much and she will certainly be missed. Rich, Jodi, Lauren and Adam Gorodesky
