Obituary for Israel Leon Weintraub

Israel Leon Weintraub passed away peacefully on July 1, 2021, in Tamarac Florida. A graduate of Atlantic City High School, Leon grew up in the area.
He met his first wife, who was his soulmate and love of his life, Annette Langweiler, when he came back to Atlantic City after college and WWII, proudly serving at West Point. They were married for 50 years. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Leon remarried in 2004 to his current wife, Sylvia Soifer Weintraub. Both never thought that they would be lucky enough to find love, companionship, and devotion after their very happy first marriages. They decided to take a leap of faith and married. They had almost 18 happy years together. He is survived by his loving and devoted daughters Nancy Weintraub Golden (Larry Golden), Barbara Weintraub Rodkin (Gary Rodkin) and 4 loving grandchildren:
Rachel Golden, Erica Golden, Elizabeth Rodkin and Jonathan Rodkin. Leon’s interests were many: art, music sports, opera, theatre, current events, reading and antiques to name a few. He shared many happy times with his family and friends enjoying these pastimes as well as discussing the “issues on everyone’s minds.”
In more recent years he became a storyteller - telling family about his life experiences and all the difficult and wonderful times that can span a life of 97 years. He loved his family and was very proud of the adults they had become.
Leon will be interred next to his first wife, Annette, at Beth Kehillah Cemetery, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
Funeral services and interment are private. Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
