Obituary for Beverly Popowich

Beverly R. Popowich (nee Korman)

Born in Philadelphia to Fanny and Sam Korman, Beverly attended Girls High School and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as an Occupational Therapist. Beverly and Lenny raised their family in Green Hill Farms, PA and Margate, NJ. She died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 25th. Beverly will be remembered as a Gutte Neshama, a loving wife, mother, bubbe, sister, aunt, and friend.

Beverly had a genuine passion for life and brought out the best in everyone. She saw the positive in every situation. Beverly understood the value of time and was incredibly generous with hers in the support of the things she held dear. She was a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, involved with Mural Arts Philadelphia, and active in her support of Solomon Schechter Day School and Akiba Hebrew Academy, as well as Manna. She was bright, progressive, intuitive, gracious, supportive, and loving. She didn’t sweat the small stuff and knew for herself what was important. Bev thrived on having a constant stream of people through her home, and they flocked there to be nourished and embraced by her warmth and love. She was an active and unassuming listener, asking pertinent questions and making each person feel heard and valued.
Those fortunate to have known her felt she touched their lives in many profound ways and were so much richer for having known her.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. Leonard Popowich; her daughters Deborah Korus (Gary), and Wendy Popowich; her grandchildren Alex Korman, Max, Hannah, and Sam Korus; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Preservation Hall Foundation, Manna, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
