Alan B Rosenfield
Born Philadelphia, PA on February 26, 1933, moved to Atlantic City as a child. He attended Atlantic City public schools and graduated from ACHS in 1951. He then went on to attend Temple University School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1955. He served in the US Army in Korea as part of the Korean Medical Army Group (KMAG) before returning to life in the States. He married Ellen Nissman, the love of his life, in 1960 and were married for 63 wonderful years.
He is predeceased by his parents Matthew and Ella Rosenfield and his loving son Michael J Rosenfield.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen B Rosenfield (nee Nissman), loving daughter Sarah and her husband Brian, and his beloved granddaughter Elisabeth.
Alan worked in Atlantic County as a Pharmacist employed at Atlantic City Medical Center as well as many local retail pharmacies including Lincoln Reese in Pomona and Nor-Lin in Northfield.
Alan served for many years on the board of Temple Emeth Shalom serving as President and Treasure. He was also the synagogue’s librarian tending and growing the temples’ collection of books.
He and his wife Ellen co-edited the TES newsletter for 20 years. Alan also became a zamler for the Yiddish Book Center in Amhurst, MA. He and wife Ellen travelled far and wide in southern NJ collecting Yiddish books and documents which they would transport up to the Book Center each summer. Alan was himself an avid reader and collector of all sorts of books and periodicals. Once he laid hands on a book, it became one of his cherished possessions.
